Happy Holidays from SeaSide!
The holidays are in full swing! Stockings are hung with care, presents are wrapped and the eggnog is flowing! And, even though it doesn’t feel like it outside, Christmas is just a few days away. Christmas at the beach is a wonderful time of year. Holiday shows are packing the crowds into the theatres and the malls are full of shoppers looking for that last minute gift. Still stumped about what to get that person on your list who is so hard to buy for every year? How about a Prince Resort gift certificate – give the gift of a vacation!
News from SeaSide
Marvis Livingston and Ashley Santana of SeaSide participated in CHOICES this month. CHOICES is an interactive, decision-making workshop that empowers teens to achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations. In two 50-minute sessions, local business and community volunteers take students through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management, and goal setting. Teens discover that they can take charge of their lives. The CHOICES seminar is typically presented at the 8th or 9th grade level, since these students are old enough to envision the future, yet young enough to develop positive skills and habits for success in high school and beyond. SeaSide staff was thrilled to be able to participate and were very well received.
News from the Beach
Who doesn’t love driving through neighborhoods during the holiday season and seeing all the beautifully decorated and lit houses? There are subdivisions and streets around the country known for their festive displays, many times fueled by an intense but friendly neighbor rivalry of who puts on the biggest show.
In Myrtle Beach this season, there’s a new attraction that is sure to please all of us who get a kick out of seeing Christmas lights synchronized with holiday music. Shadrack Productions, from Tennessee, has set up a drive-through Christmas light and music spectacular at the Myrtle Beach Pelican’s stadium – BB&T Field.
Once the sun sets – and lasting until 10 PM – visitors can drive their cars through a mile and a half maze of hundreds of thousands of LED lights synchronized perfectly with Christmas tunes that play through their car radios. After completing the drive, guests make their way over to “Santa’s Village” where they can have their photo taken with Santa and enjoy refreshments and entertainment.
The show runs through January 5, 2012 and costs $25 per carload, with rates available for buses and activity vans. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Red Cross, Salvation Army and the Grand Strand Humane Society. BB&T Field is located at 1251 21st Avenue North in Myrtle Beach. Don’t miss it!
