SeaSide in North Myrtle Beach

April 2010 Newsletter, Volume 4, No 4

It's official! Springtime has come to the Waccamaw Golf Trail...and the Intracoastal Waterway Trail, and the Brunswick County Trail (collectively that is over 120 golf courses along the 60-mile stretch of the Grand Strand). It's also here at the beach, on the hiking trails, and other places across the Grand Strand that you might want to explore. The Carolina azaleas are near the peak stage of their spring beauty, and green leaves of trees and shrubs take on that mystical 3-D glow of new growth. Blossoms from yellow forsythia and white and pink dogwood virtually sparkle during these crisp spring days, beauty that really must be experienced in person to be fully appreciated.

Word from our Reservations Department is that many vacationers (golfers, shoppers, and fans of the beach) have been looking for availability in their favorite condos here at SeaSide and on their favorite golf courses. If you are one of those winter-weary people still procrastinating, don't feel as if you have to make a decision right away; just call our Reservation or Golf Department for a price quote. Yet, other savvy vacationers, those interested in a great beach vacation plus savings, have diverse interests in mind such as golf and shopping or beach and live theatre, and they are making reservations to capture those pre-Memorial Day savings, true bargains!

Reserving your place here at the sea while availability and choices are high will help keep prices low for your own vacation. May contains numerous reasons for coming to the beach, such as celebrating Mayfest on May 9th (free concert with great beach music by live bands, food, crafts, and children's zone), then on May 9th Mother's Day where you can give mom a special gift of free golf on one of the participating courses along the Strand.

This is only a sample of the many amazing ways to spend a vacation at the beach, so let us know how we can help.

Guest Comments

SeaSide welcomes comments from guests by email, phone, hand-written letter, or texting. Here are some of the recent comments from guests staying with us:

Our 3-bedroom, 3-bath corner condo was a great deal for our spring break vacation. It had awesome ocean views and was clean, spacious and comfortable. Maid service was outstanding, and we got a free breakfast every day to boot. Appreciated the parking deck even if making turns were a little tight. Outdoor parking is available, too. Attendants at the front desk were friendly and helpful with dining and sightseeing suggestions. Really appreciated the pools, lazy river and hot tubs! I cannot say enough good things about The Seaside. We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Seaside for 6 nights over Spring Break. There were three adults and two kids. We had plenty of space in the three bed three bath condo unit and for the price it was a steal! I read several reviews with the biggest complaint being the parking garage. We were driving a Chrysler mini van and had pretty much settled on parking outside prior to our arrival, but much to our surprise there was no need. Whoever complains about the parking garage needs to learn how to drive. The kids loved the pool and lazy river under the parking garage, however the outdoor pool was too cold to use this time of year. The views are spectacular, the staff very accommodating, and the location very quiet yet central to Broadway at the Beach, shopping and plenty of dining. I plan on staying here again and would highly recommend this to any of my friends. If you are trying to impress someone with a five star hotel, then keep looking. If you want a very spacious condo with all the amenities of home and very clean, then this is the place you should stay. I did my research and have stayed at several hotels in Myrtle Beach over the last 12 years, and this is by far the best I have stayed in yet!

Friendly staff and clean, spacious accommodations make this a great place to stay in North Myrtle Beach. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

This was my very first visit to Myrtle beach, and I stayed at the Seaside (2301 South Ocean Blvd.). I was very impressed and pleased with the accommodations and the staff. A+++++++ all the way. I am planning to bring my family down south again sometime this year and will definitely be staying at the SeaSide again. I am also trying to get my family from N.J. to come along.

Fun Facts

In Singapore, drivers must come to a full stop outside of the 50-meter range of pedestrians who are in cross-walks. Those who stop inside that range are subject to a traffic citation.

In the Philippines, traveling by scooter in many major cities there has its challenges. For example, you can receive a traffic citation for driving in sandals or bare feet.

Also in the Philippines, car bans apply from 7 AM onwards to keep roads free of traffic jams. The bans are linked to people's license plates, such as the ones ending with a "1" or"2" which are not allowed on the roads on Monday. Those with "3" or "4" are banned from driving on Tuesday, "5" or "6" on Wednesday, "7" or "8" on Thursday, and "9" or "0" on Friday.

In Viet Nam, if you are caught driving without a valid driving license, you can be sentenced to prison for up to 3 years.

In South Africa, if you do not stop to allow an ostrich wrangler to cross the street with his flock of ostriches, you can be cited with a traffic ticket and a charge of $500.

Great Britain has become the speed-camera capitol of the world with over 4,700 cameras at various intersections around that country. Think you can look quickly for the camera before you scoot through the crossing? Think again. One was hidden in a parked horse trailer.

In Finland, taxi drivers playing music in their cars are required to pay a copyright fee. The idea is that the music is being presented to the "public," that is, the cabs' paying customers. So to save a few Euros, your cabbie might prefer to keep things quiet in his cab.

Canada has lots of pennies in circulation, but there's a limit on how many can be used at a time. The maximum number allowable per transaction is 25. That disallows dredging out all the pennies just to buy a snack at the mini-mart.

Different states of the United States have some equally unique laws of their own. In Alabama, putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death.

A law in Alaska allows you to hunt a bear safely, but you can be cited for waking a bear and taking his picture for photo opportunities.

In Arizona, you can be imprisoned for up to 25 years for cutting down a cactus.
