Looking for an outdoor adventure in Myrtle Beach that doesn’t include going to the beach? No problem, just visit Huntington Beach State Park, located near Murrells Inlet in Georgetown SC.
This impressive 2500 acre park is only 15 miles from downtown Myrtle Beach, but feels like another world. It’s beaches, unlike those found closer to the city, are uncrowded and natural. The park also has areas to camp, fish, birdwatch, and walk your dog (just remember to pick up after them and keep them on a leash). Also located within Huntington Beach State Park is Atalaya Castle, a captivating piece of history largely unknown to visitors.
Huntington Beach State Park is open daily from 6am-10pm. Admission is free for children 5 and under, $3 for ages 6-15, and $5 for adults.
